The short version

This website sets no tracking cookies and uses no analytics or advertising services.
Fonts and all other files are served from our own hosting, not from Google or any other third party.
We only process personal data if you sign up for the newsletter or email us.

Visiting the website (hosting)

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). When you visit, the host processes technically necessary data such as your IP address, the time, the page requested and your browser's user agent, in order to deliver the page and protect it from attacks. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running the site securely (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Transfers to the USA are covered by the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or by standard contractual clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

When you sign up, we store: your email address, the date and time of your sign-up and of your confirmation, the page you signed up on, the exact consent wording you agreed to, a one-way hash of your IP address (a checksum, not the address itself) and your browser's user agent. We keep these details as a record of your consent.

We use double opt-in: after signing up, you receive an email with a confirmation link. Without confirmation you will not receive the newsletter. We delete unconfirmed sign-ups after 30 days at the latest.

Our lawful basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time, using the unsubscribe link in every email or on our unsubscribe page. After you unsubscribe, we keep your address only on a suppression list, so that we never email you again.

Email service provider: Brevo

We send the newsletter using Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, Paris, France) as our processor. Brevo processes your email address and delivery data on our behalf on servers in the EU. Brevo can record whether an email was delivered or opened and whether a link was clicked. We only use these figures in aggregate, to improve the newsletter and to remove addresses that cannot be delivered to. We have a data processing agreement with Brevo.

Where sign-up data is stored

We store sign-up data in a database run by Supabase Inc. (USA). Transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

Contacting us by email

If you email us, we process your message and address in order to reply (Article 6(1)(b) or (f) UK GDPR). Our mailboxes are hosted by Zoho Corporation.

Links to shops

When you click a link to a retailer, you leave our website. The retailer or an affiliate network may then set its own cookies to attribute a purchase to our recommendation. The retailer's own privacy policy applies to that.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict processing, to data portability and to object, as well as the right to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email us at hello@gamebrief.news. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

How long we keep data

We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe. After that, only your address stays on the suppression list. We delete unconfirmed sign-ups after 30 days.
